About these figures
Every senator and representative is paid the same annual salary; the President and the Speaker receive that amount twice. On top of salary, ORS 171.072 adds a per diem at the federal rate for each day of a session and each interim committee day, $400 a month for interim expenses, a district-size interim allowance, and mileage. Those additions depend on days served and are not in the salary dataset, so the figures here are salary only. No legislator receives extra salary for a leadership, chair, or caucus role; the President and the Speaker are the only exceptions. The dataset counts positions paid during the fiscal year, so it shows more positions than seats where a seat changed hands; one representative position is recorded at a lower figure with no reason given.
The administration
Seven nonpartisan offices employ the legislature’s professional staff; each head is hired by a legislative committee under ORS chapter 173. Pay is exact where the person’s classification holds one position, a range otherwise.

About these figures
Only the members, the Chief Clerk, the Secretary of the Senate, and the Equity Officer are named in a public record; the rest are positions. Each member hires their own staff within a budget set by the Legislative Administration Committee; many positions are part-time or session-only. The Speaker, the President, and the four caucus leaders each run an office with a chief of staff, policy analysts, and communications staff.
Dating, sources, and how pay is set
A member's annual salary equals one step below the maximum step of Salary Range 1 of the executive department's Management Service Compensation Plan. The President and the Speaker receive that amount again as additional salary. Members also receive a per diem at the federal rate for each day in session and for interim committee days, $400 a month for interim expenses, a district-adjusted interim allowance, and mileage. The figures on this page are the state’s own payroll classifications for fiscal year 2025: ORS 171.072 sets the formula for members, and the Oregon Transparency salary dataset reports the resulting amounts by classification (preserved copy SHA-256 337818674b29…, retrieved 2026-09-05). Staff pay is set by the Legislative Administration Committee’s branch personnel rules. State fiscal year 2025 (July 2024 to June 2025) annual salary by classification; the dataset does not name individuals, so a person's pay is the pay of the classification. Presiding officers are paid twice the member salary under ORS 171.072(2). Per diem and interim allowances are additional.
Roster: OLIS roster and committee memberships, 2026 Regular Session, session beginning February 2, 2026, retrieved September 1, 2026; member page links are the roster’s own website field. Journal: Journal of the Senate, 2025 regular session, organizational session of January 13, 2025, preserved copy SHA-256 778d036ebaa53b0d…. Caucus pages: Retrieved September 5, 2026, after the edition cutoff. Caucus leadership elections are caucus business and are not entered in the journal or the OLIS roster. Guidebook: Member Guidebook 2025, as of November 18, 2024. Names as printed in the guidebook prepared for the 2025 organizational session; later personnel changes are not reflected. Office page links were checked on September 5, 2026.
- Roster titles are a snapshot at retrieval (September 1, 2026); leadership changes during a session are reconciled from the organizational journal.
- Guidebook names date from November 2024; office heads who changed after that date are not reflected until a later edition.
- Members' personal staff and caucus office staff are not on the public roster; their positions and pay appear only as classifications.
- The state salary dataset lists positions and classifications, not names. A named person's pay is exact only where the dataset holds one position in that classification; otherwise the range is shown.
The “Does / Power / Means” lines are the Atlas’s plain-English reading of the cited rules and records. They describe formal authority and documented practice, not any individual’s conduct.
